Christina Strayer Thornton, Ed.D, LPC, CCTP, AAT, Christina Strayer Thornton, Ed.D, LPC, CCTP, AAT, is a licensed practicing counselor with three therapy dogs of her own. Dr. Strayer Thornton and her canine co-therapists work with individuals with trauma, ADHD, autism, PTSD and many others. Her therapy animals are rescues who have experienced trauma and Dr. Strayer Thornton uses their stories to provide hope to clients. She is writing a treatment manual pairing Adlerian Techniques with AAT. Dr. Strayer Thornton obtained her Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University, Sarasota, FL. Her dissertation work was based on Animal-Assisted Therapy and the benefits to at risk youth. Dr. Strayer Thornton works as an adjunct professor at Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC.is a licensed practicing counselor with three therapy dogs of her own.
