She is the creator of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a type of psychotherapy that combines behavioral science with Zen concepts like acceptance and mindfulness. Professor of Psychology and Director of the Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Her primary research is in the application of behavioral models to suicidal behaviors, drug abuse, and borderline personality disorder. She has received several awards recognizing her clinical and research contributions and is past president of the Association for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy. A fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychopathological Association, Dr. Linehan is a diplomate of the American Board of Behavioral Psychology. is an American psychologist and author. He is currently clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine where he is on the faculty of the Center for Culture, Brain, and Development and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center. Dr. Siegel has lectured for the King of Thailand, Pope John Paul II, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Google University, London's Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and TEDx. received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his postgraduate medical education at UCLA with training in pediatrics and child, adolescent and adult psychiatry.
